Latifa, Salomey, Manu, Jeff and Opuni ready for MAEC Indoor Championship

Ghanaian Student Athlete’s at the Coppin States University will be in action at the Mid-East Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Championship on Monday 21st – Wednesday 23rd February 2022.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) the indoor championship meet was cancelled in 2021.

Preview of the Ghanaian Athletes:

Latifa Ali will compete in both 60m and 200m events.

“Latifa leads the Eagles within the MEAC on the women’s side as she ranks first in the 60m (7.43), second in the 400 (54.55) and third in the 200 (23.88). She is one of three Coppin States University (CSU) athletes ranked in the top ten in the 400m with Kimani Alphonse in fourth (55.30), just ahead of Shenelle Tomlinson in fifth (55.55)”, reported by coppinstatesports.com

Salomay Agyei will also take part in the 800m.

“Salomay ranks fifth in 800m (2:19.79)”, reported by coppinstatesports.com.

OLY Joseph Manu will take on 60m and 200m dashes.

“Joseph Manu (60m | 6.66), Abayie Opuni (400m | 47.30),   Manu sits in fifth place in the 200m dash in times of 21.37.

Nationally, Manu ranks 35th in the 60m dash, just .04 off the final qualifying spot currently”, reported by coppinstatesports.com.

Abayie Opuni will compete in 200m and 400m respectively

“Opuni sits in seventh place in the 200m dash in time of 21.68”, reported by coppinstatesports.com.

Long Jump: Jeff Hammond will compete in two separates events 60m and long jump. 

“Jeff Hammond(long jump | 25-1.25) all lead the MEAC in their respective events with several Eagles ranked within the top ten in the conference.

Hammond sits 29th in the long jump, just off the National qualifiers by 3.50 inches.” reported by coppinstatesports.com.
