Saucony Guide 14 Running Shoes – Ultimate Comfort and Stability

In this review, I will be discussing Saucony’s latest men’s running shoe, the Guide 14. This shoe boasts a number of features, including a synthetic-and-mesh upper, a rubber sole, and PWRRUN cushioning.

After trying the Guide 14 for a few runs, I have to say that I am impressed with its comfort and overall fit. The shoe’s form-fit upper really molds to my foot, creating a snug and secure fit. The plush tongue, while not looking like much, is incredibly soft and comfortable. I also appreciated the reflective patches on the upper, which added some visibility during early morning or late-night runs.

However, while the shoe is comfortable, I did find that it lacked a bit in the propulsion department. I didn’t feel like it gave me the same push-off as some other running shoes I’ve tried, and I found myself having to work harder to get up on my toes. That being said, the shoe’s flexibility and grip were impressive, and I felt confident taking on a variety of terrains.

Saucony Guide 14: Comfortable Upper

Boasting a comfortable upper that has been designed to form fit around your foot, the Saucony Men’s Guide 14 Running Shoe is a top choice for runners. The upper gives a plush feel and is super soft around the tongue and heel. The upper has a wraparound design that connects the tongue to the bottom of the upper, which hugs the foot. The upper is not bulky, making it streamlined and not getting in the way during your run. The shoe has a heel counter that is very firm and hugs the foot despite not being as plush as its older sister, Hurricane.

Saucony Guide 14: Propulsion

While the Saucony Men’s Guide 14 Running Shoe may not have a superb aspect when it comes to propulsion, it still offers a great running experience overall. It does not get the wearer up onto their toes as readily as other shoes. It has a pretty flexible design, which is stopped by the medial post that keeps it from bending too much. It is a solid daily trainer and possibly a long run shoe if you do not mind a little bit firmer ride. However, it is not a speed shoe and does not get you on your toes. Other comparable shoes from Brooks and New Balance, such as the Adrenaline GTS and 860, respectively, offer more propulsion.

Power Run Midsole

Featuring a PWRRUN midsole that differs from the PWRRUN midsole found in the Hurricane, the Saucony Men’s Guide 14 Running Shoe provides excellent cushioning and support. The Guide 14’s PWRRUN midsole is more firm and is supposed to be more responsive, but it does not offer the same spring as other running shoes. The midsole provides a stable feeling ride that hugs your foot and is so comfortable, making it a great shoe for mid-pacers and possibly even speed work.

Saucony Guide 14: Flexibility

With its flexible design, the Guide 14 from Saucony is a smooth ride during your runs, making it a fantastic choice for runners of all levels. The shoe has flex groups that aid in flexibility, and the flex grooves aid in the grip of the shoe. The outsole also has firm rubber around the heel for heel strikers to protect the midsole and along the medial aspect of the shoe right below the medial post. The flexibility of the shoe is stopped right at the medial post, making it a very stable shoe.

Saucony Guide 14: Reviews

Customers have given the Saucony Men’s Guide 14 Running Shoe many positive reviews, making it a popular choice among runners. Users have praised the shoe’s comfortable fit and excellent stability and cushioning while running. Many have found that the shoe fits true to size and that the shoe is perfect for those with overpronation. The shoe is lightweight and breathable, making it an ideal choice for running and walking. Some customers have found that the shoe’s design is not as flashy as other shoes, but it is streamlined and comfortable.

Saucony Guide 14: Size Recommendation

To ensure a perfect fit, the Saucony Men’s Guide 14 Running Shoe recommends that customers order either a size up or measure their foot in the evening for the best results. Customers have found that following this recommendation results in a perfect fit. The shoe is easy to slip on and stays put during runs, making it comfortable to wear. The heel area of the shoe’s sole is a little too thick for some customers, which puts a little more pressure on their knees. However, the shoe is still one of the best running shoes they have ever owned.

Pros:

  • The Saucony Men’s Guide 14 Running Shoe has a comfortable, plush fit with a form-fitting upper that hugs the foot.
  • The shoe has a streamlined design that makes it lightweight and easy to wear, ideal for mid-paced running and even speed work.
  • The shoe is available in different sizes and widths, making it easier to find the perfect fit for different foot types.

Cons:

  • The shoe lacks in propulsion, making it less effective in getting the wearer up onto their toes.
  • The shoe’s PowerRun midsole is not as responsive as other comparable shoes, making it a bit firmer and less springy.
  • The shoe’s heel counter, while comfortable, is not as stiff as some users may prefer, and it remains to be seen if it will hold up over time.

    Conclusion

Overall, I think the Guide 14 is a solid running shoe for those who prioritize comfort and stability over speed and propulsion. It’s a great option for daily training runs or even longer distances, thanks to its plush cushioning and form-fitting upper. While it may not be the best choice for speed work or races, it’s a reliable and comfortable option for runners of all levels.

    Questions & Answers:

Question: Is the Saucony Men’s Guide 14 Running Shoe suitable for long runs?

Answer: While the shoe is not as propulsive as other options out there, it can still be used as a daily trainer and even a possible long run shoe, as long as the firmer cushioning is not an issue for the wearer.

Question: How does the Saucony Men’s Guide 14 Running Shoe compare to other shoes in its category?

Answer: Reviews suggest that the Guide 14 is a solid option for those looking for a comfortable, stable running shoe, but it may not be as propulsive or springy as comparable shoes from other brands, such as the New Balance 860 or the Brooks Adrenaline GTS.
