Nadia Eke “I Was Planning On Retiring In 2020 Regardless Of Performance At Tokyo Olympic Games”

One of the most talked-about stories this week is the retirement of the Ghanaian Triple Jump record holder Nadia Eke. Whiles others are saying she has retired due to the disappointing performance during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Nadia Eke disclosed to Athleticshour.com “l was planning on retiring in 2020 regardless of performance during Tokyo 2020. I have so much going for me beyond the sport that I need to cater to. I love it for a while but for the last few years my heart hasn’t been in it”

Nadia Eke lost her interest in sports for the last few years but she has been training and competing in many championships. Most people were much concerned about her name which has a Nigerian root due to her name.

During an interview with the BBC, she disclosed that she is half Ghanaian and half Nigerian. They further asked her about the controversial food recipe between Ghana and Nigeria “the best Jollof”. She said “Ghana Jollof”.

Nadia also likes to dance a lot and she said music makes her feel happy each time. She made a video of her dancing on the streets of Tokyo, Japan during their stay at the Olympic Village and it went viral. Fox News even showed it on their national news bulletin. Nadia Eke made her Olympic debut in the Triple Jump and she became the first Ghanaian Female Triple Jumper to qualify for Olympics in this event. She was also the flag bearer for Ghana at the opening ceremony at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
