Wumboriche And Ayaaba Top Bono Regional NSA Cross Country 2021

The Bono Region has held its cross country to select the best athletes to represent the region in the upcoming National Sports Authority (NSA) National Cross Country 2022. The event was held on Saturday 30 October 2021 at the regional capital, Sunyani Coronation Park. Wumboriche and Ayaaba top Bono Regional NSA Cross Country 2021.

The Bono Region now becomes the first region out of the 16 regions to organise its cross country ahead of Akim Oda 2022. About 100 athletes participated in the competition to be selected to represent their region.

As part of the preparations towards the National Cross-country which is scheduled for 19th February 2022 at Akim Oda, NSA Bono Region is the first of the 16 regions to host the event at the Regional level.

The Bono Regional Sports Authority organized a “justify your inclusion” Cross-country themed “Combating Covid-19 through Sports and fitness activities”.

According to the region, all selected athletes will be camped and trained together as a team prior to Akim Oda 2022. The National Cross Country will be held in the Eastern Region and it will be the first time they will be hosting a mega event.

Females Category

Ayaaba Joyce broke the tape in 51:40 seconds while Braima Rabitu finished second in 51:47 seconds and Nyini Abetha placed third in 59:11 seconds.

Males Category

Wumboriche Noah won the male’s race in 40:59 seconds while Amidu Hamza place second in 41:39 seconds and Asante Williams finished third in 41:51 seconds.

Some of the dignitaries present at the event include Nana Kesewaa Yeboah, Assistant Director RCC and Regional Minister’s rep, Dr. Kofi Amo-Kodieh, Regional Director Ghana Health Service, Mrs. Comfort Selly, Bono Regional Second Cycle Coordinator,  George Osei, Former National Cross Country Champion. Mensah Wisdom, Regional Chairman of the Volleyball Association, John Bosco Senayah rep for National Youth Authority (NYA) Director, Mr. Sani Mohammed Raphic, Bono East Regional Director, and Mr. Festus Boffah, Ahafo Regional Director.
