The National Sports Authority (NSA) in collaboration with the Western Region directorate is pleased to present the Western Regional Inter District Cross Country Championship 2022.

The Western Regional Sports Authority wishes to inform the general public of the next edition of the National Cross Country and as part of preparations for the event, they will host their annual inter-district cross country which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 22nd January 2022 at the Sekondi Sports Stadium.

The region is preparing towards the 4th edition of the National Cross Country Championship. The National Cross Country Championship is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 19th February 2022 at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region.

The event will commence at exactly 5:30 am early in the morning. The venue of the event will be at the Rawlings Sports Stadium (Big Boss).

The theme for the maiden edition of the event is dubbed “Running Towards 2023 Africa Games”.

All the 14 Districts and Municipalities in the region are expected to present 12 athletes each comprising 6 females and 6 males to participate in the event. The purpose of the event is to select the best athletes to represent the region at the upcoming NSA National Cross Country Championship 2022 at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region.

NOTE: “ALL DISTRICTS ARE TO PARTICIPATE TO FACILITATE THE SELECTION OF A TEAM TO REPRESENT THE REGION AT THE FORTHCOMING NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP IN ODA, EASTERN REGION. JUSTIFY YOUR INCLUSION”.

Individual athletes in the region who were not picked at the District level will be given the opportunity to run in the region on a non-scoring basis to justify their inclusion in the Regional Team and so qualify for prize rewards. Individuals who fall into this category must register with the Authority for a charge of GHc 20.

Mr. Jospeh Alabi Bortey, the Western Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), has pleaded with corporate entities to join forces with the Regional Sports Authority to unearth the needed talents for the benefit of the country as a whole, and it is his prayer and hope that the 2022 Regional Cross Country will be a success.
