We’re Grateful – GAF Head Coach Moro Salifu to PAAG

We’re Grateful – GAF Head Coach Moro Salifu to PAAG race organisers – The maiden edition of the Past Athletes of Ghana Association (PAAG) Invitational Championships was held on Friday, 24th – Saturday 25th June at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.

The PAAG invited about 372 national athletes for its maiden track and field championships. They invited athletes from all the regions, institutions, athletics clubs, and security services according to their performances in the past events.

The first day of the event was mostly the preliminaries with some of the field events being finals, but most of the athletes produced good times. Thanks to the National Sports Authority for the renovation of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium tartan to the world standard track. read more

The Ghana Armed Forces Athletics Team displayed an unprecedented performance by hauling medals in every event. They won 10 gold, 13 silver and 7 bronze (30 straight medals) in the two-day championships.

He again added that this was also part of the preparation for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the mega one 2023 All African Games. According to him, the GAF Athletics Team is doing everything for its athletes to get the qualifying times.

He also empahasised on the time interval and how serious they are now and also hinted that their team will also take part in the National Invitational Championships that will be held at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium. read more

‘’All our athletes improved on their times and am very happy about that. But we also saw some lapses and we will work on them ahead of the subsequent events. We have one female athlete who has been selected to join the Commonwealth Games team and we want more of our athletes to qualify as well. I didn’t do this alone but with the help of my fellow coaches in the GAF – Thank you all – on behalf of all the team “we thanked all our directors for the support they have been given to us always“, he added.

Currently, the GAF Athletics Team has the best athletes as compared to the other security forces in the country and most are willing to join.
