Week 10 of the GPL: Aduana and King Faisal down while Kotoko defeats WAFA

The attempt to preserve the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season a two-horse race in the first round hit a roadblock on Sunday as both teams lost their games in the 10th round of fixtures. Week 10 of the GPL: King Faisal and Aduana lose on the road, while Kotoko defeats WAFA.

Insha Allah, the Insha Allah lads’ five-game unbeaten run came to an end in the 80th minute of the game at Bechem Park, when former Asante Kotoko forward Augustine Okrah scored the game’s solitary goal to give Bechem United the maximum three points.

Aduana also lost a last-gasp 1-0 defeat to Medeama Sporting Club at the Akoon Community Park. With just two minutes remaining in the game, Ahmed Toure scored to inflict the Ogya lads their first defeat since losing to King Faisal on match day two.

After defeating WAFA in their match at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kotoko moved level on points with both Aduana and King Faisal with one game remaining. Bibiani Gold Stars were the biggest winners over the weekend, winning 3-1 at Dun’s Park against 10-man Karela United. Prince Owusu, Charles Kamara Gyamfi, and Nuhu Sule scored for the home team, while Karela’s consolation goal was scored by Umar Bashiru.

Salim Adams scored late in the game to earn a point for Accra Hearts of Oak in a 2-2 draw at Dawu Park earlier on Christmas Day. Before Ibrahim Issah and Ishmael Dede scored for the Believers, Daniel Afriyie Barnie gave the Phobians the lead.
