The Ghana Police Service has issued a warning to its officers against any type of wrongdoing while on duty. The Service claims to have put in place practical measures to combat all forms of misbehavior. We are prepared to deal with officer wrongdoing – IGP Akuffo Dampare.

According to Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, the Service would not hesitate to discipline misbehaving personnel whose actions oppress the public and cause the public to lose faith in the police.

“We want to give you assurance that in our quest to become a world-class police intuition, we have no reason not to up our game and make sure that we leave all the things that are unprofessional, unethical and inhumane that set us against the public behind so that at the end of the day, we would be out there to be appreciated with the public having confidence in us,” Dr. Dampare said.

Five Service officials were arrested last week in Asamankese, Eastern Region, after they allegedly extorted money from a motorist, attacked him, and planted Indian Hemp on him.

Chief Inspector William Tawiah was in charge of the police officers. Sgt. Ibrahim Iddi, Sgt. Richard Otoo, Sgt. Samuel Kumah, and Cpl. Richard Kpeanaah are the others.

The extortion took place on January 2, 2022 in Sukruntu, near Asamankese, according to the victim.

“That he [Victim] was arrested and assaulted, and it took a friend called Abu who happened to chance upon the scene to plead on his behalf. The policemen demanded and collected 500 cedis from him through his friend Abu before he was released,” according to a police communiqué.

Ghanaian’s are praising him for his selfless and professional work he is doing for the people of Ghana. He has been described by Ghanaian as the best Inspector General of Police in recent times.

The discipline and trust he has brought to the Police Service is overwhelming.
