(VIDEO): Watch Bogoso Explosion in Western Region

The authorities have issued a heartfelt plea to the neighbouring villages of Appiate to open their schools and 9 churches to the many victims of the town’s devastating explosion.

Despite the large number of losses, many people are fighting for their lives in Bogoso’s hospitals and clinics.

“The public has been advised to move out of the area to nearby towns for their safety while recovery efforts are underway,” the police said in a statement.

“An appeal is also being made to nearby towns to open up their classrooms, churches etc to accommodate surviving victims.”

The first film from Thursday’s tragic explosion in Apiate, near Bogoso, has been released.

The footage shows an entire neighborhood being leveled by the blast, while rescue personnel try feverishly to preserve life.
