Verna Ashanti Marathon Launched At Baba Yara

The Verna Ashanti Marathon 2022 was launched on Monday, September, 26,2022 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.

The marathon, which is being organized by Kumasi-based Akoma FM will be a colorful marathon that will showcase the monuments of Ashanti.

The 21km race shall be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the Kumasi City Mall and will start at 6 am.

This marathon will bring together thousands of runners to the city of Kumasi to run, compete and win amazing prizes but different nationals will be allowed to join the race not only to run but to explore the city and have fun.

This is the first of its kind in the Ashanti Region and 3000 participants are expected to participate.

The aim of the competition is to create an annual world-class sports and tourism event that will promote health and bring family and community together.

The starting point of the marathon will be Kumasi City Mall.

Patrons will pass through Anloga junction, Suame roundabout, Patase and converge at the Kumasi City Mall to end the race.

There will be an aerobics session right after the marathon at the endpoint; Kumasi City Mall where the presentation of prizes will take place.

The stakeholders that were present during the launch were Patience S.A.Mensah, Head of Public Relations, Ashanti-NSA, Emmanuel Opoku Adubofour, Manager for Acquatab, Vice President of Ashanti Regional Athletics Association, Akwesi Juoju, National Athletics Representative, Paul Tuffour, Captain Smart, Onua TV and Kofi Asante Anim, Programs Director of Akoma FM.

The Verna Ashanti Marathon is sponsored by Verna mineral water, Mozart Bet, Street Sense, Panther energy drink, Acquatab purification, St. Ben jewelries, SP citrus punch, Ashanti Regional SRC council, National Sports Authority, and National Athletics Association.
