Charles Taylor, a veteran of the Hearts of Oak, has urged Ghanaian players born abroad to turn down invites to play for the senior national team Black Stars of Ghana.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) in recent times has been working relentlessly to convince players born in other countries to switch nationalities and play for Ghana at the international level.
Charles Taylor was amongst the best and most skillful footballers Ghana has ever got.
Kweku Charles Bismark Taylor Asampong is a former Ghanaian professional footballer who played as a striker or an attacking midfielder. He had his greatest playing days and is one of the few players to play for Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
However, Charles Taylor has cautioned these individuals against switching allegiances and playing for the Black Stars on the international scene.
“Let’s ask ourselves why these players don’t want to come and play for the Black Stars,” the Asante Kotoko ace disclosed as reported by Africa-foot.com.
“Maybe they have seen something because whatever has happened to someone might happen to them.
“I have said that players abroad should not hesitate to switch allegiance away from Ghana. “Ghana is a matter of a year [then you are off the scene],” Taylor emphasised.
