Tsegay wins women’s mile in Liévin

On the same track where she broke the world indoor mark in the 1500m last year, Gudaf Tsegay won the women’s mile in 4:21.72.

Axumawit Embaye, a Tsegay compatriot, came in second in 4:25.30, beating Hirut Meshesha (4:27.19) and Netsanet Desta (4:27.19). (4:27.22).

Esther Guerrero of Spain was the first European athlete to finish in fifth place with a time of 4:28.54, eleven days after winning on Staten Island.

Sarah Kuivisto, who finished eighth, set a new Finnish record with a time of 4:29.64.
