The Ongoing Dormaa Multipurpose Stadium Needs A Tartan Track
The Bono Regional Coaches & Athletes Cries Out: The ongoing multipurpose stadium in Dormaa Ahenkro needs tartan track. The people of the Bono Region are appealing to the government to make the ongoing multipurpose stadium in Dormaa Ahenkro a tartan track for the athletes so that athletics competition can be held there.

Sunyani is the capital town of the Bono Region. Sunyani has a population of about 74,240 as of the 2010 population and housing census. Bono Region has become one of the popular regions in Ghana that is producing a lot athletes.

Most of the youth there are very passionate about athletics. Although since independence they had never had a sports stadium likewise a tartan track. Just recently the government decided to build some multipurpose stadia for most of the regions. Bono Region was selected and the stadium was to be built at Dormaa Ahnekro.
Dormaa Ahenkro is a city and serves as the capital of Dormaa Traditional Area Dormaa Municipal. Dormaa has a population of about 1 million (2020). The elevation is 258m above sea level. Dormaa Ahenkro is the home grounds of the famous club Aduana Stars F.C. The ongoing Dormaa multipurpose stadium needs tartan track.
The coaches and athletes were very much thrilled that at long last a stadium is coming so definitely a tartan track will be laid for athletics competitions to be held. The project started in 2017 and a lot of work had been done and it’s nearly for completion.
But the most unfortunate incident is that the track oval which supposed to be a tartan track has been turned to stone chippings track. Athletics in Ghana is much underrated and no one even respect that sports. Even some people think that athletics doesn’t exist in Ghana but only football.

The football pitch is done very nicely while the athletics oval is dressed with stone chippings (gravels). How do they want the athletics to run on the gravels?

Is far better for them to even leave it bear with the clay soil on top. That even makes it a perfect athletics track for all and ideal training grounds.
Some of the athletes disclosed that they are praying after the whole construction at least they can do the tartan track for them.
We hope and believe that there will be a tartan track laid after the whole construction.
