He has missed five Diamond League events but will compete on February 4 in the Berlin indoor meet.
The injury was not a part of Jacobs’ choice to take a rest from the track after the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, according to his manager Marcello Magnani, but the time off is a preventative measure.
With his victory in Tokyo, Jacobs, who only moved from a long jump in 2018, became the first Italian to win the men’s 100m Olympic gold.
