The athletes must not pretend and say that the weather is very hot in Tamale – Coach Boniface

Athleticshour.com one-on-one phone call interview with Coach Boniface and he said that most of his athletes are in the Junior High School Form 3 and they will be writing their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in a few days. Due to that, they were allowed to train only once a day and which has affected them a lot.

“I registered 13 athletes in all and out of them was only two (2) boys while the other eleven (11) are girls. Even as am talking now there are other five (5) athletes who wanted to come but due to financial constraints, I couldn’t get them their transportation. It pains me a lot because these athletes are eager to compete in this race,” Coach Boniface disclosed.

According to him his athletes are well prepared and if all things are being equal they can win. He was also sure that his athletes will be among the top 5 athletes in both categories.

“Most of my athletes are in Cape Coast and they arrived in Tamale two days ago. The weather here in Tamale now is the same as in Cape Coast, Kumasi, and Accra. The athletes must not pretend and say that the weather here is very hot because they always say it’s hot here. We are all aware that during the harmattan season is windy and hot. The route here is very flat, no hills the terrain is good and is an advantage for those from the Southern sector, no cheating and short here because it’s a straight road. I think it will be a good race” he added.

The Tamale Half Marathon will take place tomorrow, Saturday 6 November 2021 at the principal street of Tamale Metropolis.

Coach Boniface also calls for support for Ghana Athletics and commended the race organisers for putting up such an event in the Northern sector of Ghana.
