On Monday, Team Awinongya paid a courtesy call on Mr. Albert Boakye-Okyere, the Municipal Chief Executive of Ashaiman, who was pleased to meet the young bright USA born champion and encouraged him to pursue his passion.

According to the MCE, Ashaiman is rapidly expanding and becoming overcrowded, thus they want to make it one of Ghana’s most vibrant destinations, similar to Las Vegas, United States.
He noted that Ashaiman is a hub of West African citizens as there are people from every part of West Africa are living in the place.
He also promised that with the support of the traditional authority and sponsors, they are going to build a gym to develop and promote sports as there seem to be many talented people in Ashaiman.
He praised the Friends of Boxing and the Ghana Boxing Supporters Union for helping Awinongya and his father get the recognition and fame they deserved.
Ghanaians, according to Joseph Awinongya Snr., must make the law work, as it does in America, since it will make people good, industrious, and progressive.
