Support Kurt Okraku at this crucial time – NFF President Amaju Pinnick to Ghanaians

Amaju Pinnick, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has urged Ghanaians to support and back the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) president Kurt Okraku in the aftermath of calls for him to quit.

Following the Black Stars’ group-stage exit at the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON], Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has come under intense scrutiny by the Ghanaians in recent times.

Ghana was in Group C which the Black Stars lost to Morocco in the opening game, drew with Gabon in their second quest, and lost to debutant Comoros in its last match.

Ghana has had its worst-ever performance at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) since independence.

Pinnick said Ghana’s AFCON group stage exit was a ‘bad time’ for the country under Okraku and added there have been good times under the administration of the 51-year-old.

“Kurt [Okraku] loves Ghana and I think he should be supported. In life, you have your bad days and your good days. This is just one of the bad times of Ghana,” the NFF boss told Joy Sports.

“They [Ghana] just qualified among the ten teams for the World Cup against South Africa. They did very well so it is not just one bad moment that they [Ghanaians] will crucify him because if you keep doing that, you keep crucifying administrators. Kurt is someone that is so loved by all his colleagues from A to Z.”

He calls for support for the GFA from the good people of Ghana.

Contrary Ghanaians are saying that they don’t like any foreign coach to lead the national team again. But Kurt Okraku didn’t listen to them and he went on to choose a white coach. Which the Ghanaians described as disrespect to the entire nation on the side of GFA.
