Shaibu Rafique 14-year Features in Hasaacas MTN FA Cup

Shaibu Rafique Issah, the goalkeeper for Sekondi Hasaacas FC, made MTN Cup history on Wednesday by becoming the club’s youngest ever player to be featured in a competitive game. Shaibu Rafique 14-year features in Hasaacas  MTN FA Cup.

Hasaacas faced Bibiani GoldStars in the FA Cup Round of 64 in midweek, and the 14-year-old was awarded a starting spot.

He stood for the Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) on November 16, 2021. Made the first-team squad on 3rd  December 2021 as Hasaacas beat Samartex in the MTN FA Cup round 64.

Hasaacas head coach Joseph Agyemang has no reservations about giving the boy a competitive debut in the cup competition after adding him to the team’s squad roster for a match earlier this month.

Despite being eliminated from the competition, Issah’s participation against the Ghana Premier League newcomers will go down in the Sekondi-based club’s history books.

Last month, Issah was a member of the 2021 class of students who took the Basic Education Certificate Examination.

After growing up in the neighborhood, the shot-stopper completed his Junior High School education at Seventh Day Adventist (S. D. A) Preparatory School, Assin Andoe.

Issah was hoping to make his debut for the club when he was selected on the substitutes bench in Ghana’s Division One League’s 1-0 win over Samartex on December 3.

Unfortunately, the highly-rated goalkeeper only lasted 28 minutes on the pitch in his first debut before being replaced due to injury.
