The second edition of the most anticipated road race event in Ghana, the Sekondi-Takoradi Marathon (STM) will be launched on Tuesday, 2 November 2021.

The launch of the event will take place at the Conference Hall of the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC) at exactly 9:30 am prompt. Sekondi-Takoradi Marathon to be Launched In November.

The Sekondi-Takoradi Marathon is an initiative of Medivents Consult and Total Marketing and Tours Limited (TMTL), in collaborating with the Western Regional Coordinating Council.

The race organisers are expecting about 1000 athletes to take part in the second edition of the event.

“The launch would be used to unveil the routes, various categories, prizes, registration, and among others,” said the race director.

The Western Regional Minister and Member of Parliament, Hon Kwabena Otchere Darko-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of the Sekondi-Takoradi Municipal Assembly, Chief Executive Officer of the Effie-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly, National Sports Authority (NSA), Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Ghana Education Service (GES), Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) and the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) are all expected to be present at the grand launch coming 2 November at Western Regional Coordinating Council Conference Hall.

The Sekondi-Takoradi Marathon is scheduled for 26 December 2021. The distance available is a 21km route and it will be the first-ever competitive road race event to be held on Sunday in the history of Ghana.
