Sekondi-Takoradi Marathon New Date Confirmed

The 2021 Sekondi-Takoradi Marathon (STM), whose second edition was initially to take place on Sunday, 26 December 2021, will now be held on Monday, 3rd January 2022. Sekondi-Takoradi Marathon new date has been confirmed.

The new date was announced on Saturday by the Sekondi-Takoradi Marathon’s Race Director, Mr. William Ezah.

The organisers of the second edition of the 2021 STM (21km) have set a new date on Monday 3rd January 2022 for the staging of the biggest road running event in Ghana currently,” said the race statement.

Organisers also disclosed during the launch that the route will remain the same but the finishing point will be changed in the second edition.

Mr. William Ezah said that the organisers were delighted to come up with a date and all the stakeholders have agreed on the new date set.

According to the race organisers, there will be frequent updates prior to the second edition of the competition day.

In his previous interviews, he stated that the STM will become an international marathon in the coming years and that his organisation is keen to put up a world-class competition in Ghana here.

The Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) and the National Sports Authority (NSA) have also promised to support this marathon to reach the level it deserves in the coming years. They made this known during the launch of the event at the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC) Hall in the Western Region.

Registration is still in progress and everyone can register and take part in this race. The organisers of the Sekondi-Takoradi Marathon will provide free transportation for all athletes as part of their new year’s gift in the 2022 season. Accommodation will also be free for all registered participants only.

The STM will also become the first road race to be organised in Africa in 2022. will post free half marathon training plans on our website and everybody can access them for free.
