Sekondi-Takoradi Marathon – Launch, Date, Registration, Prize

The second edition of the Secondi-Takoradi Marathon (STM) is scheduled for a historic date again. The best half marathon event in Ghana, West Africa now will take place on Sunday 26 December 2021.

The General Manager of Medivents Consult, Mr. Henri Senyo Penni has said that his outfit had learnt a lot of lessons from the maiden edition of the event. The event was very successful but a lot of useful lessons have been learnt as well.

“We are going to witness more efficient management of the 21-kilometer route for the race, whilst the security of athletes would be given a topmost priority. We would also engage the Police Service in Takoradi to discuss the security of the athletes.

We have made contacts with the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) to inspect and certify the routes for the race to meet the standards of World Athletics.

Plans are in place to set a well-resourced medical lounge at the finish point to ensure that athletes who will have medical issues would be given adequate care.

The Sekondi-Takoradi Marathon is gradually becoming one of the biggest races in the country due to the successes it chalked last year and we are ready to make it bigger.

We are in consultations to increase the prizes for winners this time in both categories. We would introduce other special prizes for the youngest runner, the oldest runner, and a trophy for security services” said the General Manager of Medivents Consult, Mr. Hetsnri Senyo Penni on GNA Sports.

The press launch of the second edition STM will take place on Thursday 9 December 2021 at the Conference Hall of the Western Region Coordinating Council (WRCC) in Takoradi.  The press launch will take place at exactly 14:00 GMT.
