Sadiq Aloo is an upcoming Ghanaian Amateur Track and Field Athlete. Sadiq is specialising in the middle distance events on the track.

Early Life

Sadiq Aloo was born on July 1, 1999, to Mr. Azure Aloo and Madam Ten Awabila in the Upper East Regional capital, Bolgatanga. Sadiq’s family relocated to the Tema Metropolis at a tender age. He started his primary education at the Mahean Presbyterian Basic School at the Tema Metropolitan Assembly in Accra. Sadiq was the second born of three siblings. He started his primary education in 2009 and completed in 2014. Sadiq was a very talented and hardworking student during his primary education. In 2015 he started his Junior High School at the same school, Mahean Tema Presbyterian. He successfully obtained his Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in 2018 at the Mahean Presbyterian Junior High School. Sadiq was started his athletic career at his basic school level whiles he was in Mahean Presbyterian School.

His Coach, Mr. Emmanuel Arthur discovered Sadiq and saw his potentials of becoming a very good athlete. Mr. Emmanuel always advises him to take his athletics seriously because he will one day represent Ghana at the Olympic Games.

Upon completion, Sadiq Aloo got admission at St. Augustine College in Cape Coast, Central Region. Sadiq started his Senior High Education in 2018 and he will be completed in 2021. Sadiq Aloo Ghanaian Athlete.

Achievements

2016

In 2016, Sadiq place third in the 800m final in the Inter-Regional Sports Festival. The event was held in the Brong Ahafo Region. During the Central Regional Inter-Schools Competitions, He placed second in both 800m and 1500m respectively in 2019. He was later selected to represent his region at the Inter-Regional Sports Festival in Tamale. Sadiq Aloo won gold in both the 800m and the 1500m.

2019

In 2019, he was selected to represent Ghana at the West African Juniors and Seniors Athletics Championships at Cote D’Ivoire. In the men junior’s 800m final, unfortunately, he missed a podium finish. Sadiq placed 4th in 1:55.29 seconds.

2020

In 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, there were no races but he was still training with his coach.

2021

In 2021 he won the maiden edition of the Ashieyie 15km race. He was 2nd in the under 18 men’s 800m with a time of 1:54.48. The Ghana Open Championship was held in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.

Sadiq Aloo is now training under one of the renowned coaches in Ghana currently, Coach Evans. Coach Evans Yeboah is the head coach of the Adisadel College in Cape Coast. He is now the official coach of Sadiq Aloo.

2022

29.01 Ghana Armed Forces Cross Country Championship – 10km -36:31.53 *et* – 50th place

Future ambitions

He aspires to become one of the greatest middle-distance runners in the world some few years to come, and also to be the first Ghanaian male middle-distance runner to compete in the Olympic Games. Sadiq takes inspiration from his role model from the world record holder and the Olympic champion in the 800m, David Rudisha.
