Results: Commonwealth Games Men’s 1500m Final

Oliver Hoare from Australia took a surprise victory at the 2022  Commonwealth Games Men’s 1500m Final, on August 6, in Birmingham.

The 24-year-old Hoare, who just two weeks ago in Eugene, Oregon, failed to qualify for the World championships final, today defeated two global champions to win the Commonwealth games gold.

Hoare went from fourth to first in the final straight to win the race with a new games record and personal best time of  3:30.12. He edged out 2019 world champion Timothy Cheruiyot from Kenya by 0.09 and reigning world champion Jake Wightman from Scotland by 0.4 seconds.
