The Volta Region for the past month has become very busy and has lengthy activities in the region. The region is also known as number 9 in Ghana. The GBC Volta Star Radio is celebrating its 25th anniversary and a lot of games and activities were being held. Report: GBC Volta Star Radio Race.
Among them were Ludo, football matches, dame, table tennis, athletics and many more to commence the occasion.

Last weekend, 13th November was the scheduled date for their road running event. There were about sixty two (62) athletes across the length and breadth of the country who trooped in to participate in the competition.
The competition started around 6:30 am early in the morning with the leading pre-race favourite Samuel Awine from the Upper West Region, Ishmael Fialor from the Ashanti Region, Tony Asigbey, and Emmanuel Tetteh all from the Greater Accra Region.
In the first 10 – 15 minutes there were about 10 leading athletes, and they were all looking very strong. Samuel Awine who was the most experienced athlete controlled the race and broke away from the pack from the 20 minutes’ mark.

Samuel continue to win the race in a course record time of 27:19 seconds ahead of Kwawutse Philip, he also finished second in 28:39 seconds and Emmanuel Tetteh place third in 28:41 seconds.
“I have been training all the time for this kind of competition so it was not difficult for me”, disclosed Samuel Awine.
Tony Asigbey was much disappointed after placing 5th and he vows to bounce back again.
Medals and certificates were awarded to all the participants and the winners also received some items in addition.
The competition took place in Ho, the capital town of Volta Region.
