Registration Opens For Young Olympics Championship

Olympian Benjamin Azamati To Grace The Young Olympian Championship In Ghana


The Legon Creative Athletics Club in collaboration with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Sports Directorate & Seed Afrique presents Junior Olympics Championship 2021.

The Junior Olympics Championship is set to go down from 17th to 18th of December, 2021. Is going to be a two-day event, the famous Paa Joe stadium will be hosting this pending athletics event which might be the last track and field competition to shake the entire nation.

This competition is open for all but under the following age groups: under 10 which will sole be a 60 metres dash, under 12 will comprise of both 200 metres and 100 meters respectively, under 15 to 18 category will be engaging in 100 metres 200 metres and 400 meters and the senior’s division will run 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 meters, 4 × 100 metres and 4 × 400 metres mixed relay.

All the above events are for both females and males respectively. Also, there will be a field event which will be the long jump. This event is sanctioned by the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA).

The guest athlete to grace this prestigious competition is no other but the Olympian who holds both national records in 100 meters and 4 × 100 metres relay, the Olympian Benjamin Azamati.

The upcoming athletes will get the chance to interact with before and after the competition. The objectives for the maiden championship is dubbed:

  • To unearth, nurture and groom talents
  • To sensitise the public on the need for kids Athletics
  • The identified athletes would be assigned to coaches all over the country
  • The young athletes would get the opportunity to interact with Olympian Benjamin Azamati.
