One of the leading distance athletes at the tertiary level, Francis Yin has confirmed his participation in the maiden edition of the upcoming Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Cross Country Championship. Official: Francis Yin to compete at Ghana Armed Forces x-country championship.

Yin is a student of the University of Ghana (UG) and he is part of the UG cross country team.

In 2019, he placed 3rd during the UG Inter-House Championship in 5000 metres.



He competed at the maiden edition of the Adenta-Ashiyie 15km race and placed 5th overall in the men’s category. During his high school days, he never lost any race and was able to maintain his winning streak until he completed.

Yin has also participated in Ghana First (GF) Cross Country, UG Inter-Hall Cross Country, Burma Camp Obstacle Race and Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Cross Country.

“But for now am working and don’t get much time to train as I wanted. Nevertheless, preparation is good and am in good shape now”, said Yin.


Yin now joins the quality field of Ishmael Arthur, Samuel Awini, Samuel Alobig, Emmanuel Tetteh, Krampah Pannin and others.

The GAF cross country championship is slated to take place on Saturday, 29th January 2022.
