NSA Intervenes In Martha Bissah’s Suspension To Settle With GAA

The National Sports Authority (NSA) headed by Prof. Peter Twumasi engaged Martha Bissah and her management. Martha is the only track and field medalist for Ghana in the Youth Olympic Games.

She won the 800m women’s final 2014 in the Youth Olympic Games which was held in Beijing, China. Martha has been suspended by the Ghana Athletics Association for alleged indiscipline on her part. According to reports Martha granted a radio interview and said a whole lot of things about the association which was untrue.NSA intervenes in Martha Bissah’s suspension to settle with GAA.


The Ghana Athletics Association placed an indefinite suspension on the athlete in 2015. The association demanded an apology from Martha before she will be reinstated into the national team but she declined their offer and said all that she narrated on the radio was nothing but the truth.

Prof. Peter Twumasi said “Yesterday the National Sports Authority engaged Athlete Martha Bissah as part of efforts to secure a pardon and subsequent lifting of the over six-year suspension sanction from the Ghana Athletics Association.

The Authority is in talks with both parties to arrive at an amicable settlement to enable the athlete to return to the tracks. The Director-General was assisted by the Authority’s Counselling Unit led by Ms. Stephanie Antonia Esshun.”


Martha graduated from Norfolk State University this year in the United States of America. Martha graduated with a Bachelor of Science and she is currently in Ghana and training as well.
