The CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), formally French: Coupe d’Afrique des Nations (CAN), is the primary international men’s association football championship in Africa. It is referred to as TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations after its headline sponsor, and sometimes as African Cup of Nations. It was first conducted in 1957 and is sanctioned by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
