McWhorter And Sahlman Victorious At Dr Sander Invitational

On Friday (4), Zach McWhorter of the United States improved his pole vault PB to 5.85m, gaining three centimetres to his previous best at the Dr. Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Bronze competition in New York’s Armory. With a 5.75m clearing, Sondre Guttormsen came in second.
Colin Sahlman of the United States surpassed four minutes to win the mile in his debut indoor competition on Saturday (5), recording 3:58.81. Eric Holt won the runner-up slot with a time of 4:00.01, beating off Jonah Koech’s time of 4:00.24 and Ryan Hill’s time of 4:00.39. Dan Schaffer won the 3000m in 7:53.74, a personal best.

Marquis Dendy, the 2016 world indoor long jump champion, won with a leap of 8.10m after previously jumping 8.03m in an earlier round, while Tori Franklin won the triple jump with a leap of 13.96m. With a throw of 19.16 meters, Sarah Mitton set a new Canadian indoor shot put record.
