Early Life

Musah Mariama is a Ghanaian Female Amateur Athlete.  She was born in Madina a suburb of Accra in the Greater Accra Region. Musah was born on 6th August, 1997 by Dawud Musah and Salamatu Braimah. She started her athletics career at a very tender age when she was in primary school. Mariama was admired by most of her school mates, teachers and her community.


Musah Mariama started her basic education at the St. Peters Mission School and after successfully completing the basic level she later joined the Madina Cluster of Schools for her Junior High Education.  When she completed Junior High School in the year 2014 she couldn’t able to go in the same year. In 2015 Mariama started her High Education at West Africa Senior High and spent only first and second academic term there. She later joined the 2015 batch for her Senior High Education at the Holy Trinity Cathedral Senior High School and completed in the year 2017. Musah Mariama is currently at the University of Winneba, Cape Coast. She is pursuing Physical Education and at level 200. Mariama Musah the Ghanaian Discus and Shot Put Superstar.

Athletics Career

Mariama Musah became well known and saw her capabilities when she joined the Holy Trinity Cathedral Senior High School. She began to train and specialising in as a Discus and a Shot Put Thrower. Mariama sometimes has to train twice a day. She was ambitious and ever ready to win any competitions she goes.

Mariama Musah broke the Greater Accra Regional record in 2016 for both the Discus and the Shot Put respectively. The Discus past record was 24m and she threw 28m breaking it over 4m intervals. She also broke the Shot Put record which was 7m during that time, Mariama threw unbelievable 9m. All these records were set in the same competition.

In the following year Mariama broke her own records again and now set a new Junior High School records in the Discus of 30m and in the Shot Put of 9m. Her records still remain till date. During the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games in Kumasi she placed second overall with a distance of 32m in the Discus. Currently Mariama’s personal best in the Discus is 34.56m, she did it at the 2020 National Circuit Games which was held at the Essipong Sports Stadium, Sekondi – Takoradi, Western Region. She also placed second in that competition with a throw of 34.56m

Future ambitions

Mariama Musah’s dream is to compete in the Diamond League and World Championship. Her role model is the great Sandra Pelvokic.
