Latifa Ali Breaks Ghana National 400m Indoor Record
Ghana’s sensational female sprinter Latifa Ali has broken Ghana’s National indoor record in the 400m dash at the 2023 Last Chance Indoor Qualifier in the USA. Latifa is a student at Coppin State University.
She has been a phenomenal athlete and started her 2023 campaign on a very promising note. Latifa has been an integral team member in the Ghana Women’s National squad. The previous record was set by Akua Obeng-Akrofi in 2018 at the same venue, city, and country. She clocked 52.60 seconds and won the race.
Her times are also a school records. “Latifa Ali of Coppin Track wins Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Sports Championship in 200m (23.61) and 400m dash (52.64), both in school-record times. Later it was announced that she has been disqualified in the 400m dash”, Coppin Sports on Twitter.
NATIONAL RECORD ALERT!!!
“Latifa Ali demolishes the women’s indoor 400m national record with a 52.60-second clocking. Latifa eclipsed the old record by a massive 0.79 seconds. The old record of 53.39 seconds was set by Akua Obeng-Akrofi OLY in 2018. Interestingly, both records were set at the same facility in Boston, USA”.
