Kenyan Marathon Legend Mary Keitany Retires

The Kenyan marathon legend Mary Keitany has retired from athletics. The 39-year old Kenyan marathoner broke the news on Wednesday 22nd September 2021 through Gianni Demadonna. Gianni is the manager of Mary Keitany. She was a phenomenal and unpredictable athlete during her days. Kenyan marathon legend Mary Keitany retires.

Keitany Athletic Career

Keitany has won 7 World Major Marathons (WMM) in her career. She also holds the marathon world record for a women-only race.

She emerged as champion three times in the Virgin Money London Marathon. Keitany accomplished this milestone during the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon in 2:17.01. In 2011, 2012, 2017. She finished second in 2015.

Keitany won the New York Marathon on four occasions, in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018 respectively. She placed second in 2017 and 2019 as well. In 2010 and 2011, Keitany took the third spot in the New York Marathon.

In 2009, she was victorious at the World Half Marathon Championships. She placed second at the World Half Marathon Championships in 2007.
