Jose Peseiro Newly Appointed Super Eagles’ Coach
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Jose Peseiro as the next head coach of the Super Eagles. After a video conference meeting of the NFF executive committee on Wednesday, the 61-year-old was appointed. Jose Peseiro newly appointed Super Eagles’ Coach.
According to the NFF, Peseiro will be an observer at the Africa Cup of Nations Tournament, which begins on January 9 in Cameroon and will be managed by Augustine Eguavoen.
“However, the Committee decided that Mr. Augustine Eguavoen, who was named temporary Head Coach, would lead the Super Eagles to the AFCON 2021 in Cameroon, with Mr. Peseiro serving simply as an observer.”
“It was generally agreed that the AFCON is an excellent opportunity for Mr. Peseiro to begin working alongside Mr. Eguavoen, who would revert to his post as Technical Director (therefore Mr. Peseiro’s immediate boss) after the AFCON.”
The Portuguese has coached for 29 years, beginning at Uniao Santarem in Portugal.
After stints with Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, the 61-year-old will be leading a national team for the third time.

Peseiro has also coached a number of clubs in his homeland, notably Sporting CP and Porto, which he led to the 2005 UEFA Cup Final.
In the 2015/16 season, the former striker led Al Ahly to the Egyptian Premier League title.
