“I Will Bounce Back Again”, GAF Athlete Ishmael Arthur
Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Athlete Ishmael Arthur has successfully competed in the 27th edition of the ever-popular Soweto Marathon in the 21km rest of Africa starting group. The 2022 Soweto Marathon took place on Sunday, November 6 in Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Ishmael has had a tremendous season this year and won multiple races in Ghana.
The experienced distance runner also holds the record as the first Ghanaian athlete to run the half marathon in 62 minutes. He achieved this during the 2022 Millennium Marathon in Accra which was also a new course record.
The young Ghanaian is very ambitious and eager to compete in more international competitions to gain more experience in distance running.
He finished in 1:13:43s and placed 14th overall out of 5931 participants in his category. The 2022 Soweto Marathon – 42km, 21km and 10km – was competed by over 20,000 participants as reported by marathonguide.com.
The Mankrong Nkwanta-based athlete and the Ghanaian contingent will arrive in Ghana on Tuesday, November 8 and he will focus on the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games.
The 27th GUSA Games will be hosted by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the main field for athletics will be held at the Paa Joe Sports Stadium.
