The race for the Ghana Black Stars vacant coaching job has been intensified in the country for some days now.
Following the abysmal performance of the team at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon, the head coach Milovan Rajevac has been fired whilst the technical board also dissolved.
Ghana has few months to prepare for the playoffs ahead of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Black Stars has been paired with Nigeria and expected to play in March. A lot of names has been pop-up since the sacking of Coach Milo.
The battle to sign a new head coach is moving tense each day and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has their preferred candidate whilst the bank-roller of the Black Stars also has their choice.
A lot of the media houses and sport journalists have been suggesting what they think is better for the senior national team.
The Ghana government who pays the coach has already met Chris Hughton according to reports whilst the GFA president Kurt Okraku and his Executives are also in Germany to convince Otto Addo to take up the job – report says.
The GFA are persevering in their quest to hire Otto Addo as Ghana coach. Kurt met him in Germany on Monday and he’s agreed to take the job. But GFA still need to negotiate with Dortmund for his release. Meanwhile, Hughton met Pres. NADAA on Tue and has assurances for the job. This is a simple matter in my opinion. Hire both coaches; Hughton as boss, Otto as assistant. It’s a quality combination that prepares Otto to succeed his boss. But even better is that it will be a nice compromise between government and GFA. Everyone is happy. Anaa meebodam?
