The Executives of Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA ) today paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Mustapha Yusif at his Office in Accra .

The meeting which offered GUSA Executives the opportunity to introduce themselves to the Minister also discussed a host of issues including congratulating the Minister on his appointment, how best the two entities can work together to promote and unearth talents in sports, lifting of ban on University sports among others.

GUSA President, Mr. Shaibu Tanko Ibrahim informed the minister contributions made by GUSA to the development of sports. He said “about six hundred (600) sports men and women are given scholarships by various Universities to pursue courses at their Institutions”.

He congratulated GUSA for their contributions to the development of sports in the country.

Further, he asked the Association to increase their visibility, promote activities and tell their wonderful untold stories like provision of scholarships to sports men and women which may attract sponsorships.

He stated that he was ready to make a case on their behalf for government to lift the ban on University sports.

He further urged the Association to conduct more research on sports especially, the contributions of sports to GDP.

He assured GUSA of the continuous support by the ministry during FISU and other games.

He concluded by thanking the Association for their visit and expressed his desire to collaborate and work with them.
