GAA Approves The West Africa International Marathon Route
The Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) has certified the maiden edition of the West Africa International Marathon (WAIM) route and given them the green light to go ahead.
The Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Region II has already placed its endorsement logo on it. The CAA Region II spearheaded all Athletics activities in the 16 countries in West Africa.
The Ghana Athletics Association has also inspected the route of the West African International Marathon and it has been certified.

The work of the GAA is to check the organisation and route of the event and evaluate. According to the GAA technical team’s report on the route checks, “it is exactly 21.1km and meets the international standard of a half marathon”.
The news came in yesterday from the race organisers of the event. “The Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) has inspected and certified the routes for the first edition of the West Africa International Marathon (WAIM)” said race organisers.
The event is expected to attract at least athletes from each of the West African countries within the sub-region. GAA approves the West Africa International Marathon route.

Although the maiden edition of the West Africa International Marathon is scheduled for October but the actual date is yet to be confirmed.
The partners of the event are Marrakech International Half Marathon, Street Sense Organisation, Sportnetgh, CAA Region II, and the Ghana Athletics Association.
