Eliud Kipchoge Wins NN Mission Marathon
Eliud Kipchoge is regarded as the best marathon runner in the history of sports. But some are saying he is notĀ but part of the best runners in sports of our generation. He is the reigning Olympic champion in the year 2016 at Rio in Brazil.
During the competition was a heavy down pour of rain. The rain continued from the start to finish be Eliud maneuver his way out to win the race.
Eliud Kipchoge is back on his feet after his defaeat at the London Marathon.
He is the the reigning Olympic marathon champion and the only man on earth to run a marathon under-two-hours bounced back from his shock defeat in LondonĀ last October to take victory in theĀ NN Mission Marathon in Enscheda, Netherlands in 2:04:30.
This marathon was to check his fitness level after a long break due to the covid-19 pandemic. Eliud Kipchoge’s last marathon before he defends his Olympic title at the upcomingĀ Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games which is scheduled on 8 August 2021.
In his post-race interview, the 36-year-old gave thanks to the organisers who had to switch the race from its original venue of Hamburg in Germany to Enscheda in Netherlands Ā due to covid-19 restrictions.
Kipchoge said, “It’s mission accomplished. Thank you to the great men and women who organised this race in less than 10 days. I can say that the NN Mission Marathon is the best ever. It’s good to organise in a different environment. It’s good to organise the meet during a pandemic to tell everybody that you can still run. This is the best race towards to a huge day at the Olympics.
“This was the real test towards the Tokyo Olympics. It’s a good marathon to happen a few months before the Olympics to test your fitness. The plans are going on. I’m going back to Kenya to talk to the right people. My good coach, my good management, my good technical team for consolidation.”
Although the race was done under closed doors no spectators were allowed all these measures were for covid-19 restriction and guidelines from the medical expects.
He added “The conditions were really good. A bit windy but no complaints and all of us run in the same conditions. I don’t like to complain because a race is a race and we are running on the same course.
