Deborah Acquah smashes the national record in the women’s long jump with a massive 6.81m (+1.6). Her new mark breaks the 14-year-old national record set by Ruky Abdulai in 2007. Deborah Acquah Sets New National Long Jump Record.
Rukaytu ‘Ruky’ Abdulai is a Canadian long jumper and heptathlete, who holds dual citizenship with Ghana. She won the bronze medal for the long jump at the 2009 Summer Universiade in Belgrade, Serbia, with an astonishing mark of 6.44 metres. Rukaytu ‘Ruky’ Abdulai was part of the Team Canada Beijing 2008.

Deborah also got agonizingly close to the automatic qualification mark for the Tokyo Olympics. She missed the mark by 1cm (1/3 rd of an inch). The mark of 6.81m currently ranks her 8th in the world and number 1 in Africa.

Deborah Acquah has been improving always after breaking the National Indoor Record. The last time she missed the Olympic Automatic Qualification 5cm. But this time is just 1cm to get the Olympic Automatic Qualification Time. I believe Deborah Acquah can do it and there is still hope.
For me, I call her the Eagle of Ghana.
