Leyanis Perez of Cuba won her first indoor competition with a leap of 14.47 meters, while Pascal Martinot-Lagarde of France was also among the winners at the Meeting Elite de Miramas – a World Athletics Indoor Tour Bronze meeting – in France on Friday (4).

Perez, 20, was just six centimetres off her personal best – the region U20 record of 14.53m she set outdoors in June – with her winning leap. It gave her the victory over Olympic medalists Patricia Mamona of Portugal (14.17m) and Ana Peleteiro of Spain (14.15m).

Martinot-Lagarde won his second race of the season after winning his first in Karlsruhe a week earlier, clocking 7.63 to win the men’s 60m hurdles, while Evonne Britton of the United States won the women’s final in 8.15.

Ida Karstoft of Denmark increased her national indoor 200m record to 23.25 in the second of the finals after clocking 23.36 in Norway last month.

Ferdinand Omanyala of Kenya won his 60m heat and final with national records of 6.65 and 6.63, while Julien Watrin of Belgium won the 400m with a time of 46.77.

Luiza Gega of Albania won the 3000m in 8:50.08, while Ossama Meslek of Italy won the 1500m in 3:40.04.

Loic Gasch of Switzerland won the high jump with a leap of 2.22 meters, and Simo Lipsanen of Finland won the triple jump with a leap of 16.52 meters.
