Ishmael Arthur vows to win Accra Inter-City Marathon

Confirmed: Former Marathon Champion To Compete At Koforidua

Ishmael Arthur is one of the best leading long-distance athletes in Ghana. He has represented Ghana on several occasions and has been a phenomenal athlete for the past decade. He became well known after emerging as the winner of the 2018 Millennium Marathon in Accra.

Ishmael hails from Agona Swedru in the Central Region. After winning the 2018 Millennium Marathon he was later flown to United Arab Emirates (UAE) o compete in the Dubai International Marathon as part of the first prize bonus.

According to him, he will be debuting in the second edition of the Koforidua Marathon on Saturday 11th December 2021. This will be his first time running a race in the Eastern Region. He again said that he was very disappointed during the Good Day Cross Country Championship. Ishmael placed 5th overall and according to him, they were having a course and training was not all that effective. Also, the date of the race was impromptu so no proper preparations were being made.

“Last year, I didn’t take part in the maiden edition of the Koforidua Marathon. But this year I will and am coming back very strong again. Even this year my target was to defend my title at Asante Akyem Marathon Challenge but due to the course I was offering, so things changed along the way and training was not all that effective. We will finish the course soon and I will go back to my regular training schedule. I believe I will be part of the top 10 athletes coming 11th December 2021. I know God won’t fail me’’ said Ishmael.

Ishmael is currently serving in the Ghana Armed Forces.
