Competitions to be held in Ghana From June to August

The following competitions will be held in Ghana in the next 90 days. These events comprise both road running and track and field. Although there has been a lot of races that has been postponed and later canceled due to the covid-19 pandemic. But race organisers are trying their very best to make sure at least some events are being organised.

The only road race that has been organised in Ghana this year is the Ashiyie Marathon in the month of May at the Adenta Municipality, Accra.


Most of the events are being organised by the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA). GAA had already organised about four track and field events across the country and still counting. In addition to their success was the first ever National Cross-Country Championship which was held in Accra prior to the selection of national team athletes to compete at the All African Cross-Country Championship in Lome, Togo.

Unfortunately the event was later postponed due to the surge in the second wave of the covid-19 in Togo.

There has been other track and field event that has been organised by individuals. Ghana Fastest Human Meet was no exceptional and it was held across three regions in Ghana respectively. The first one was held in Cape Coast, Central Region then continued in Accra, Greater Accra Region and was finished in Kumasi, Ashanti Region. Competitions to be held in Ghana from June to August.


The Ghana National Sports Authority also organised its annual national cross country in the Western North Region. This event is the initiative by the National Sports Authority to unearthed talents and promotes sports in the country.

Below are the available races mangers/athletes should look forward for, if no cancelation or postponement.

| JUNE |

| One Day Meet in Cape Coast which is a track and field event|


| Accra International Marathon. The athletes can choose from a wide range of distances. This event is organised by a private entity. It has a perfect route and a lot of souvenirs are presented to the athletes. ย This includes 5km, 10km, 21km, 42km and the relays|



| Daakye Tod Half Marathon. This event is a road running and athletes who are abreast with the long distance can compete. Although they have 5km fun runs for the juniors and the aged to participate. This will become the 2nd time itโ€™s being staged in the Agona Swedru Municipality, Central Region|

These are the likely available races in the month of June, July and August in Ghana.
