The Namibian sprinter Christine Mboma has been voted the BBC African Sports Personality of the Year for 2021, saw off Kenyans Eliud Kipchoge and Faith Kipyegon, South African para-athlete Ntando Mahlangu, Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and South African Swimmer Tatjana Schoenmaker to win the award.
The 18 year-old Namibian made herself proud in the 2021 season after winning Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Silver Medal, Diamond League Winner, World Athletics Tour Gold,Ā World U20Cchampion.

She also sets a National Record, World U20 Record,Ā African Record.Ā She expressed her happiness and dedicated the award to all Namibians.
“I dedicate this award to all Namibians. This is a reward for all the hard work I have done”, says Christine Mboma.
