Central Region Prepares Ahead of National Cross Country Championship

The Ag. Regional Director of the National Sports Authority, Central Region, Mr. Alexander Tieku with some Management members paid an official day trip to Dunkwa-on-Fin to visit the newly appoint MCE. Honourable Ebenezer Forson Appiah today, 14th of January, 2022. Central Region prepares ahead of National Cross Country Championship, Akim Oda 2022.
The Ag. Regional Sports Director thanked the MCE for taking time out of his busy schedule to meet the delegation from the Sports Authority on this short notice.
He use the opportunity to introduce the newly appointed Sports Development Officer to the District, Mr. Francis Ghunney from the NSA. He pleaded with the MCE to provide the District Sports Director with an office space and accommodation to help him execute his duties diligently and effectively in the municipality.
He further used this medium to seek sponsorship from the MCE for Team Central ahead of the upcoming justify year inclusion tournament to select both males and females for the Regional Long Distance Team to present the region at the National Cross Country Competition slated to be held at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region of Ghana come February 2022.
The MCE, Hon. Ebenezer Forson Appiah welcomed the team from the Sports Authority to his municipality and said, he was more than happy to have a District Sports Director in his district to help in the promotion and development of sports. He later promised to provide office space and accommodation for the said Officer to help him execute his duties at the District more effectively.
The MCE pledge his commitment to helping the regional team in terms of sponsorship for their preparation for the upcoming tournament, to help prepare the Regional team for this prestigious competition.
He later tasked the Sports Authority to help organize some sporting activities in the Dunkwa-on-Fin district, since most of the youth were into sports and it could help push more of the youth into sports.
The Ag Regional Sports Director in his response to the MCE said the Sports Authority was more than ready to assist in the organization of some sports activities in the municipality to help in the development of all sports activities in the District. He asked for partnership to help achieve that noble cause from the Municipal.
The Team later visited the newly constructed Stadium at Dunkwa-on-Fin to interact with the Site Engineer, Mr. Stephen Derhry on the progress of the project. The Engineer took the Ag. Regional Sports Director and his Team round the facility to help them ascertain the progress works of the newly constructed stadium.
The Ag.Regional Sports Director said he was much impressed with works done so far and would present a detailed report to the Director-General of the National Sports Authority upon his return.
