Boxing Superstar Awinongya Jnr. Arrives In Ghana
Joseph Awinongya Jr, a 14-year-old Ghanaian boxer born in the United States, arrived in Accra, Ghana for the first time on Sunday, February 6, 2022.
The emerging boxing superstar, who has won numerous awards in the United States, was joined by his parents and brothers.
An ecstatic crowd greeted him after spotting his T-shirt. The Ghana Boxing Supporters Union, young boxers from the Ghana Boxing Federation juvenile and youth teams, and Besesaka Boxing Kids all attended the welcome celebration.
He expressed excitement to be in Ghana and hoped to inspire other youngsters and youth to remain focused and achieve their hearts desires while speaking to the media at the Kotoka International Airport.
Joseph Awinongya Snr., a former boxer who is now a coach, said it feels fantastic to be back home and that they are in Ghana to work on certain initiatives.
They will meet people like the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Usif, Alhaji Inusah, Nii Annang Adzor II, CEO of the Asamoah Gyan Foundation, Sammy Anim Addo, and others while in Ghana.
Joseph Awinongya Jr. has won the national junior boxing championship 13 times in the United States of America.
