The women’s 200-meter heats saw 22.54, comfortably the fastest qualifying time, set by Fraser-Pryce, a four-time Olympic winner and nine-time world championships gold medalist. Elaine Thompson-Herah, a two-time Olympic champion, ran a 22.68, while Shericka Jackson, who won the bronze medal in the Olympics, ran a 22.85. Jackson sprinted to win in 10.77 seconds in the women’s 100-meter final on Friday. read more
Yohan Blake, the 2011 World champion in the 100m, led the men’s 200m qualifying round with 20.20. Andrew Hudson clocked 20.23, and Rasheed Dwyer ran 20.35 to set the 2nd 3rd fastest times going into Sunday’s 200m final. Blake won the Jamaican 100m title on Friday, clocking his fastest time in almost a decade of 9.85 seconds.
In another event, men’s long jump champion Wayne Pinnock set a new personal record of 8.14 meters to win his first Jamaican national title. Danniel Thomas-Dodd, who finished second in the women’s shot put in the world indoor championship, threw 18.79 meters. Shanieka Ricketts, who took home silver in the women’s triple leap at the 2019 World Championships, triumphed with 14.27 meters. read more
