Azamati and Sean Through to Semis at Commonwealth Games

Benjamin Azamati and Sean Safo-Antwi have qualified for semis after the men’s 100m heats at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

Ghana’s Benjamin Azamati qualified for the semi-final of the men’s 100 metres race at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games after leading heat 7.

Azamati finished first in the heats with a time of 10.19 sub-seconds to advance to the semis in the Men’s 100m dash.

The Ghanaian managed to beat off competition from Welsh athlete Jeremiah Azu and Bangladesh runner I. Rahman finished second and third respectively.

Azamati’s time of 10.19 sub-seconds was below what he did at the 2022 World Athletics Championships where he finished the heats at a time of 10.189 sub-seconds and still failed to progress to the next round.

Azamati comes up in the semi-finals on Wednesday, August 3rd against some of the best sprinters at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham from England, Canada, Jamaica, Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.

Meanwhile, sprinter, Sean Safo-Antwi has advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s 100m race. Sean Safo-Antwi ended the heats with one of the best times among the non-automatic qualifiers.

Sean Safo Antwi made a time of 10.33 in heat 10 to go through to the semifinals after finishing 4th on the log.
