Athletes Geared Up For Bono East Regional Cross Country

The Bono East Regional Cross Country and Health Walk is set for tomorrow. The previous editions of the event were organised by the Benkadi Association and it was named as “Benkadi Cross County Championship”. Athletes geared up for Bono East Regional Cross Country.

This cross country is brought to you by the National Sports Authority (NSA) Bono East, the Ghana Tourism Authority in collaboration with Benkadi Association. This is the first time these three organisations have teamed up to organise the event.

The theme for this years’ event is “Uniting Bono East through Sports”.

“The event is an open championship and everyone can participate. There will be cash prizes for the winners, certificates, and souvenirs from sponsors. But we will also use the same cross country race to select the best athletes to represent the region in the upcoming National Cross Country Championships in 2022”, said Race Director.

The National Cross Country will be held at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region. Akim Oda 2022 National Cross Country is scheduled for February 2022.

The Bono East Regional Cross Country and Health Walk will take tomorrow and some of the best distance runners are ready to challenge themselves again.

Some of the athletes to watch in the female category are the current National Sports Authority Champion, Ghana Half Marathon record holder Belinda Segbor, Patience Nsobiala, Emmanuella Atinga, Belinda Adongo, and Reina.

The current second fastest Ghana Half Marathon athlete Samue Awini will be in action, David Nakousi the Ghana Armed Forces 5000 metres winner, and Daniel Abosti among others will be at the starting line tomorrow.
