Am Happy To Upgrade My Coaching Status – Coach Nortey

Mr. Rueben Nortey popularly known as Coach Milo is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Head Coach of Krobo Athletics Club. He is still an athlete and also doing his Coaching Education and Certificate System (CECS) Level I Course currently in Kumasi. Coach Milo, after successful completion of this course, will now become a certified World Athletics Level I Coach in Ghana. had a one-on-one interview with him about the ongoing coaching course.

“Training is going on very well and I have learnt a lot for the past seven days since we began this program. As a coach, all that I have learnt in this course, I am coming to introduce them to my athletes. So Krobo Athletics Club should be expecting more from me”, said Coach Milo.

He also described his feelings and how he was motivated during his senior high school level as an athlete. Most of his motivations were inspired by some of the coaches here and he called them his idols.

“Oh yes, I couldn’t hide my joy for meeting my idols, I can say, if even it was you, you would be happy. Although we are all doing the same course I still give them the maximum respect needed. When I was in senior high school, I usually hear their names and I always wished to meet them one day. So of course am happy to meet my idols here”, he disclosed.

According to him all the lecturers who are handling them are very kind, friendly, lovely and makes lessons very interactive. He also thanked the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) for bringing such initiative for upgrading of their status as a coach.

The World Athletics level I coaching course program started on 22nd and will end on 3rd December 2021. The program is being held at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi (KNUST). The lecturers in charge of this program are Salamatu Musah, Christopher Darko-Amakrah, Julius Baba Apidogo, Mark Dzradosi, and Osei Asibey.
