Ghanaian born in Britain Alexander Wiafe has thrown a season best in the men’s shot put at London Indoor Games on Saturday, 22nd January 2022.

The London Indoor Games took place at the Lee Valley Sports Complex, North London. Wiafe bettered his season best indoors of 12.33m.

According to him, the event was very competitive and the other athletes gave him a tough time but he managed to win it.


“The competition was very tough. I haven’t done indoor competitions for years now. But I managed to win with a new season best of 12.33m. I am happy and looking forward for my next indoor games”, he said.

Wiafe also disclosed that he is also preparing for his next indoor games at South of England under 20 and Senior Championships. The championship is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 5th – Sunday, 6th February 2022.


He will be in that race to compete in the senior division and hoping to win again. Wiafe is keen to get the qualifying time of the upcoming African Senior Championships in Mauritius 2022. The African Championships is slated for 6-8 June 2022.

Most of the African countries have already commenced preparations and Ghana is yet to follow suit.
